Rep. Pope Introduces Student Safety Package

Rep. Sondy Pope is circulating a group of bills called the Wisconsin Student Safety Package. The package includes:
- AB-1011 Safety Revenue Adjustment (Pope, Sondy) Adjusting a school district’s revenue limit for certain school safety expenditures. Referred to Assembly Education
- SB-858 Safety Revenue Adjustment (Bewley, Janet) Adjusting a school district’s revenue limit for certain school safety expenditures. Referred to Senate Education
- LRB-5633 Memo School Mental Health Programs (Pope, Sondy) Aid for school mental health programs and making an appropriation. Deadline: Friday, March 16
- LRB-5634 Memo School Mental Health Grants (Pope, Sondy) School-based mental health services grants and making an appropriation. Deadline: Friday, March 16
- LRB-5635 Memo Mental Health Training Program (Pope, Sondy) The mental health training support program for school staff and making an appropriation. Deadline: Friday, March 16
- LRB-5637 Memo Violence Prevention Grants (Pope, Sondy) School violence prevention and reduction grants, providing an exemption from emergency rule procedures, granting rule-making authority, and making an appropriation. Deadline: Friday, March 16
- LRB-5640 Memo School Open Records Exemption (Pope, Sondy) Allowing school boards to go into closed session to address school safety plans and exempting school safety plans from open records law. Deadline: Friday, March 16

- LRB-5655 Memo School Employee Training (Pope, Sondy) Training for school district employees on emergency preparedness and school violence and making an appropriation. Deadline: Friday, March 16
According to the cosponsorship memo, “These bills come at the request of educators, families and students. They focus on supporting and expanding behavioral and mental health staff, changing school climate and culture and developing safety plans and procedures to enhance learning environment safety.”
