On July 12th, the SAA forwarded to the Governor's office the SAA Veto Letter requesting vetoes on the Revenue Cap Per Pupil Adjustment and the Private School and Home School Tax Credit, as well as requesting retention of the school funding increases, the increase in the low revenue ceiling, SAGE flexibility and the 100 percent carryover of unused revenue limit authority. On July 13th, the SAA issued a priority legislative alert asking all SAA members to reinforce the content of the SAA letter with their own letter in support of the SAA positions. As you can see, our top priority is securing the vetoes on the revenue cap and tax credit issues. It is vitally important that we generate a huge outpouring of support for these two vetoes. Our hope is that we have responses from every Wisconsin school district. Please feel free to use the SAA letter as a model for your response, but I urge you to tailor your response for your district. Let the Governor know what the impact of the Legislature’s reduction to the Revenue Cap Per Pupil Adjustment would be for your district. Please find the contact information for the Governor's office below. Please copy the SAA and your legislators on your letters and emails. For your convenience, I have provided links to the Senate Directory, the Assembly Directory and Who Are My Legislators. Many thanks to all the SAA members who contacted lawmakers in support of public education during this budget session. Your grassroots effort over the past several months has made a big difference for K-12 public schools and for kids. Outstanding job! As always, thank you for all your efforts on behalf of Wisconsin school children. GOVERNOR’S CONTACT INFORMATION: |
