Urgent Message on Common Core Legislation

By John Forester | February 19, 2014

You have probably already seen the urgent message from State Superintendent Tony Evers regarding the Common Core State Standards legislation that would radically change the way educational standards are developed in Wisconsin.

Tomorrow, February 20th the Assembly Education Committee is scheduled to vote on Assembly Substitute Amendment 1 (ASA 1) to Assembly Bill 617.  The Senate version of the bill is Senate Bill 619.

We join the State Superintendent’s urgent Legislative Alert on this issue.  Please contact your legislators (Assembly and Senate) today to express your strong opposition to this legislation.  For your convenience, we are providing links to Who Are My Legislators?, the  Assembly Directory and the Senate Directory.  Please find linked below State Superintendent Evers YouTube video message as well as his letter to colleagues that includes talking points about the legislation.

We applaud the State Superintendent’s leadership on this issue and encourage you to contact your legislators in opposition to the legislation.
