Wisconsin School Administrators Alliance names Cody Lundquist as Director of Government Relations

The Wisconsin School Administrators Alliance (WSAA) has named Cody Lundquist as its new director of government relations, effective August 1. View the official press release here.
Lundquist brings more than a decade of experience as an educator and school leader, along with previous state and federal legislative experience. In his new role, he will lead WSAA’s advocacy efforts on behalf of more than 4,000 educational leaders across Wisconsin. This includes representing the alliance before the Wisconsin legislature, the Department of Public Instruction, the governor’s office, education organizations, and other state agencies.
In addition to overseeing government relations, Lundquist will help develop evidence-informed policy recommendations, support member engagement, and assist with the organization’s operations.
“Working directly with students, families, and educators has given me a ground-level understanding of what our schools truly need to succeed,” Lundquist said. “That practical experience is invaluable when developing policies that support public education. I am honored to join WSAA and make a positive impact on education across our state.”
Most recently, Lundquist served as principal of Mount Horeb High School, a position he has held since 2019. Before becoming a school leader, he worked as a special education teacher and paraprofessional. Earlier in his career, he served in both state and federal legislative roles.
“Cody Lundquist knows that the success of any education policy ultimately depends on how it works in schools and classrooms,” said Association of Wisconsin School Administrators Executive Director Jim Lynch. “His experience as an educator and school leader will help bring the voices of principals and other administrators into conversations at the state level.”
“Cody Lundquist understands that effective education policy must account for both the needs of students and the operational realities facing school districts,” said Mike Barry, executive director of the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials. “His experience in school leadership, policy development, and legislative advocacy gives him a valuable perspective. We are excited to work with him to advance WSAA’s policy agenda and help Wisconsin’s public schools serve students and communities well.”
Lundquist joins WSAA as the organization develops its legislative priorities for the upcoming school year. To support those efforts, the WSAA Board of Directors has appointed Anne Chapman to lead the alliance’s strategic planning and policy development initiatives. Chapman also serves as research director for the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials.
Together, these leadership appointments position WSAA to continue serving as a strong, nonpartisan advocate for the educational leaders who serve schools across the state. To learn more about the WSAA, visit www.wsaa.org.
