By Wisconsin School Administrators Alliance staff | July 3, 2015
The Joint Finance Committee wrap-up motion, adopted by the committee on a 12-4 party line vote last night, revisited a few education provisions previously adopted by the committee in their 2015-17 state budget deliberations and also added a few more last-minute provisions impacting public education. The committee then passed the final motion, which rolled all of the committee’s budget actions into one final substitute amendment, on a 12-4 party line vote shortly after midnight on Friday morning.
Please see the following items of interest in the wrap-up motion:
- Revenue Limit for Consolidated School Districts (Item #1)
- Additional Charter School Authorizers (#2)
- Course Options (#3)
- Supplemental Special Education Aid (#4)
- Participation in Athletics and Extra-Curricular Activities (#5)
- Teacher & Administrator Licensure (#7)
- Reduce Funding for Student Information System (#8)
The budget debate now moves on to debate and floor votes in each house followed by partial vetoes and signature by the governor. Stay tuned.
