Walker To Unveil Rural Schools Plan Today

By Wisconsin School Administrators Alliance staff | February 1, 2017

From WisPolitics.com…

Walker had originally scheduled a four-stop rural schools tour last week, but canceled after saying he had a bad cold.

Now the tour’s been knocked down to three stops: schools in Wauzeka, Hilbert and Crandon.

While no official details have been provided about what the guv will be discussing, WisPolitics.com last week obtained an overview document from a source who had knowledge of what Walker planned to say. Topics include broadband expansion and initiatives to improve the teacher pipeline.

Walker also was to discuss sparsity aid, which is funding for school districts with no more than 745 students and less than 10 students per square mile within the district, as well as transportation aid and administrative efficiency.

He also was to discuss a budget provision that would allow school districts to apply for TEACH grant funding for mobile Wi-FI hot spots for buses, according to the document.
